First vague sketch of the front cover of the magazine. There are not many Soul magazines available so i decided to look through album/ movie front covers that may be able to convey the soulful feeling and essence that i want to portray through the magazine. I decided to use a picture of the front cover of a movie called 'Boomerang', which starred Eddie Murphy, and alter it a bit, such as adding a saxophone to him which creates authenticity and complements the mise-en-scene factors to him as he is now holding a prop which is very idyllic to the Soul genre. I used this cover as he showed a very slick, smooth and charming appearance to the cover, as he is wearing a very extravagant suit, and has a slight smirk to his face, and just appears to be very well groomed. Although vague at the moment, that is somewhat the impression that i want my own, real cover artist to possess.
